KUALA LUMPUR – The joint venture will provide designers with the necessary tools and knowledge to expand their customer reach
Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) has formed a joint venture with Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan to provide designers with the necessary tools and knowledge to expand their customer reach as well as the knowhow on running a sustainable and successful brand online.
The strategic partnership announced in August 2018 will entail Shopee providing a host of opportunities to KLFW alumnus.
Some of the support extended include:
- Helping designers kick-start their official stores on Shopee with a dedicated account manager to oversee inventories related to the designers’ stores;
- Running specially planned e-commerce lesson modules run by in-house trainers;
- Curating fashion-related campaigns, both online and offline to provide further visibility of the designers’ products to the mass market.
At the Shopee 11.11 KLFW Runway Night at Lot 10, KLFW founder Andrew Tan said in addition to continuing it work to provide a platform for emerging home-grown designers, the organisation also constantly sources for opportunities to empower designers beyond the runway.
“We recently celebrated the sixth anniversary of KLFW, and as we continue to cater to the market, we saw the need to widen our horizons and provide home-grown designers with enhanced opportunities that will help them become self-sustainable. It was imperative that our next move would be with an online marketplace like Shopee,” he said.
“Shopee has been growing fast over the past few years with 12 million users on the platform today, and this means 12 million more potential customers for our designers,” he added.
The Shopee 11.11 KLFW Runway Night held in Lot 10 allowed designers who have embarked on the platform to showcase their Ready-to-Wear collections from Zero to Ten, Supercrew, JTNC by Justin Chew, Tarik Jeans, Poplook, Maglifestyle, Thavia, Projek Jahat, Jubahsouq and MIKASERIES by Zoey Rahman.
The Runway Night was held as the grand finale to the launch of Shopee 11.11 Big Sale from 25 October to 11 November 2018.
Shopee regional managing director Ian Ho said its partnership with KLFW was to tackle demands from customers for new fashion ideas and inspiration.
“With our growing user base, we noticed a rising demand for eloquent and designer-inspired fashion content. Hence, we responded to the demands of our customers through our partnership with KLFW. One that is mutually beneficial where both designers and consumers discover what they are looking for,” he said.
