Malaysia home-grown personal care manufacturer Tohtonku Sdn Bhd is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding this July by donating its “Follow Me” products to the B40 community and marginalized groups in the Klang Valley.
The contribution totalling RM1 million and consisting of products essential for good personal care and hygiene, is being distributed as Tohtonku seeks to give back to the local community for the support that the company has received since its founding in 1964.
“Diseases disproportionately affect the poor and socially disadvantaged members of society, due to their inability to access hygiene solutions, according to the World Health Organization.
“As such, Tohtonku hopes to give back to the community by raising awareness on the importance of good hygiene and distributing products that can be used by our communities to maintain a high level of hygiene,” said Tohtonku executive director Jasper Lim at the launch of Tohtonku 60th Anniversary CSR campaign at The Lawn, Imazium Tower, Damansara Utama in Petaling Jaya on July 3, 2024.
The initiative aims to benefit the B40 community including indigenous peoples, the differently-abled and orphans.
The company will distribute ‘Follow Me’ products consisting of toothbrushes, hand sanitisers, moisturisers, cleansers, body wash and shampoo, to about 13,000 individuals from marginalised communities in the Klang Valley.
The products will be distributed to selected PPRs and non-governmental organisations such as Doctors without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the SOLs foundation.
Earlier in June, the company had distributed the first batch of the products to PPR Taman Wahyu 2, PPR Seri Semarak, and the SOLs Foundation, which benefited 6,300 individuals.
The latest batch of products will be distributed to B40 communities in the vicinity of Sungai Besi, Keramat Permai and Bandar Kinrara.
Additionally, Tohtonku is working with various charitable organisations such as Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras, Community at Heart, Rumah Raudhatul al-Feez and Pertubuhan Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Home of Peace to facilitate distribution to the marginalised communities.
