In celebration of the country’s 66 years of independence, Alamanda Shopping Centre, Putrajaya launched a vibrant Merdeka campaign which runs from Aug 25 – Sept 16, 2023.
As Malaysia commemorates Merdeka Day on August 31 and Malaysia Day on September 16, Alamanda invites shoppers of all ages to join in the celebrations via its great rewards, limited edition merchandise, as well as its lineup of engaging children’s activities.
Throughout the campaign, shoppers who spend RM500 in a maximum of two receipts at any specialty store will receive a limited edition 66th Merdeka T-shirt. This offer is limited to one redemption per shopper, per day.
For high spenders who spend above RM1,500 in two receipts at specialty stores, an additional RM50 Alamanda shopping voucher awaits, on top of the limited-edition T-shirt. This reward is limited to the first 350 shoppers who spend RM1,500 and above.
Alamanda Shopping Centre also dedicates part of its Merdeka celebration to its young visitors through the ‘VIKids Merdeka Funtime’ campaign, which runs from Aug 25 – Sept 3.
The mall’s centre court is decked with a larger-than-life setup of traditional games, offering a delightful trip down memory lane for adults while creating an exciting playground for young ones.
VIKids will receive a complimentary Merdeka Funtime pack, which consists of Art & Craft, Snake game, and Rainbow Magic, while stocks last.
Additionally, VIKids will have the opportunity to take part in traditional childhood games such as Snake & Ladders, Congkak, Checkers, Pick-Up Sticks, and Ting-Ting. Some of these games will offer prizes to the winners. The prizes for winners include art sets, soft toys, water bottles, lunch boxes, Yoyos, Batu Seremban and Draughts games.
VIKids aged six to 12 years old are also invited to take part in contests organised on weekends.
A Merdeka-themed colouring contest with two age categories – Junior Category (7 to 9 years old) and Senior Category (10 to 12 years old) – will take place on weekends during the ‘VIKids Merdeka Funtime’ campaign period. The first, second and third prizes are Alamanda shopping vouchers worth RM150, RM100 and RM50 respectively.
Shoppers will also be entertained by performances featuring talented children showcasing choral speaking, talent shows, and art & cultural presentations.
Andrew Brien, the executive director and CEO of Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd stated during the launch event: “As the country marks its 66th year of independence, not only are we proud to celebrate the past but we also want to highlight the spotlight on our future leaders.”
Brien added: “Through programmes such as VIKids, we endeavour to provide avenues for them to shine while recognising the power of play in a child’s development.”
Mesra Mall
In conjunction with Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, Mesra Mall in Kemasik, Kemaman, Terengganu is also running a Merdeka campaign from Aug 26 – Sept 16, 2023.
Throughout the campaign, shoppers who spend RM350 and above in two receipts at any specialty store get to redeem a limited-edition Merdeka T-Shirt.
Other activities include special flag and cupcake giveaways to the first 100 shoppers on Merdeka Day.
Meanwhile, a Kids’ Traditional Costume Competition for VIKids members will be held on September 16, 2023. Winners will receive hampers and cash vouchers.
