PETALING JAYA – International finalists of the inaugural Miss Cosmopolitan World 2015 posed with four-legged companions for a charity photoshoot at Central Park, Bandar Utama
International finalists of the inaugural Miss Cosmopolitan World 2015 posed with four-legged companions for a charity photoshoot at Central Park, Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya on Sept 27.
Over 18 professional and amateur photographers participated in the event which raised RM6,000 from registration fees and donations for Furry Friends Farm, a shelter for rescued stray and abused animals.
The beauty queens are in Kuala Lumpur taking part in several activities and charity events, including the photoshoot, leading up to the world grand finals which will take place at Hotel Istana on Oct 9.
The photographers were ecstatic to see Miss Cosmopolitan World contestants as the beauty queens kept smiling for the cameras. Even the haze did not dampen the mood as they snapped away as many stunning images as possible of the girls in various poses with their well behaved furry friends surrounded by lush greenery.
Miss Cosmopolitan World Malaysia 2015 Kohinoor Kaur from Kota Kianabalu said it was her first time in an international pageant final.
“It is a different and fun experience meeting the girls who are representing countries from all over the world. I am really excited making many new friends,” she said.
Miss Cosmopolitan World Singapore 2015 Tan Jo Ring said she was excited to be here in Kuala Lumpur as this was her first visit to the city.
“I have a great day and enjoying all the fun,” she said, adding that her country was also hit by the haze.
Miss Cosmopolitan World 2015 pageant organiser Amelia Liew, a lover of pets herself, accompanied the girls for the photoshoot.
“We are gathered here in the park to help raise, even in a small way, some much needed funds to support the animal shelter. I am really happy the girls had a fun day doing their bit for charity,” she said.
The fund-raising photoshoot event was organised by photography enthusiasts Allan Loi and Choi Mee in collaboration with Miss Cosmopolitan World organization and Furry Friends Farm.
Allan said he organised the charity photoshoot for people who enjoyed taking photos of beautiful ladies and contributing to a worthy cause.
Myza Nordin of Furry Friends Farm said she was thankful to all for helping raised money for their permanent home.
“Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us here at Furry Friends Farm,” she said.
According to Myza, Furry Friends Farm is facing a serious problem. The piece of land on which the farm occupies is up for sale at RM2.7 million by the land owner. It hopes to raise that amount of money to purchase the land from the owner before he finds a buyer. Otherwise it will have to move out to a new place and start new.
Located in Kundang, Selangor, the shelter is manned by six full-time staff and currently housed 350 dogs, 150 cats, 10 chickens, two rabbits and a goat.
