PETALING JAYA – In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Malaysia, Taman Paramount Rukun Tetangga (RT) Seksyen 20A in Petaling Jaya held a gotong-royong to clean-up the neighbourhood
In conjunction with the upcoming Hari Malaysia, Taman Paramount Rukun Tetangga (RT) Seksyen 20A in Petaling Jaya held a gotong-royong to clean-up the neighbourhood on Sept 6, 2015 with the support of Kampung Tunku state assemblyman Lau Weng San.
“We are still in the Merdeka month celebration. The main spirit of gotong royong is not so much on cleaning up the streets but on uniting the people by bringing out the residents from all walks of life coming together as one, getting to know one another better and taking care of their neighbourhood.” said Lau.
Armed themselves with brooms, dustpans, cutters, rakes, gloves and garbage bags, the participants who included Lau, RT committee members and residents rolled up their sleeves on the Sunday morning at 7.30 am to clear the streets and drains of garbage, trim the bushes and clear away dead leaves.
“The purpose of this activity is to keep our community healthy and our neighbourhood clean and free from dengue. “We are cleaning up the area of rubbish and unwanted junk concentrating along Jalan 20/15, Jalan 20/17 and Jalan 20/19. We are split into smaller groups and each group will take charge of the street assigned to them,” said Taman Paramount RT Seksyen 20A chairman Kong Poh Heon.
“Everyone wants to live in a clean and healthy environment and I am proud of the residents’ collective spirit in keeping the place spick and span.
Kong thanked Lau for his continued support and the residents who volunteered their service to make Taman Paramount a better and cleaner place.
