Eleven Malaysian restaurants received the Thai SELECT certification from the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Malaysia at an award ceremony recently.
Thai SELECT Restaurants are the renowned symbol of authentic Thai cuisine and cultural excellence.
In a statement, DITP Malaysia said the award ceremony on July 29, 2023 marked a significant milestone in the continuous pursuit of culinary excellence and showcases the remarkable growth of Thai gastronomy across the globe.
“Since its inception, the Thai SELECT Restaurants program, initiated by the Royal Thai Government, has been devoted to promoting and preserving the true essence of Thai cuisine and hospitality,” said the statement.
“Each of these specially handpicked restaurants demonstrated an unwavering commitment to upholding the authentic flavours, cooking techniques, and cultural traditions that define Thai cuisine,” it added.
Thailand’s ambassador to Malaysia Lada Phumas congratulated the 11 additional Thai SELECT Restaurants for their outstanding achievements.
She said: “We are immensely proud of the Thai Select Restaurants in Malaysia and Brunei for their dedication to upholding the rich culinary heritage of Thailand while providing an exceptional dining experience to our esteemed patrons. These establishments have excelled in embodying the essence of Thai gastronomy, bringing the unique flavours of Thailand to local and international communities.”
The DITP is a government agency under the Ministry of Commerce, Thailand.
DITP Malaysia director Worawan Wanwil said restaurants with the Thai SELECT award experience a significant boost in their business.
“This award increases brand recognition because people trust the authentic taste of Thai cuisine! If any restaurant is interested in learning more about the benefits of Thai SELECT, do contact DITP Malaysia directly,” he said.
Together with the new additions, this will bring a total to date to 26 Thai Select Restaurants in Malaysia and one in Brunei.
