The Mrs Malaysia Globe (MMG) organisation launched the Mrs Malaysia Globe 2023/2024 competition on May 27 at NetVerk, Oval Damansara in Petaling Jaya, marking the official start of the search for Mrs Malaysia Globe 2023/2024 who would represent Malaysia at the Mrs Globe 2024 competition.
The organisation’s director Hyacinth Ho said they were delighted to offer opportunities to all married women to embark on an empowering journey, going beyond physical appearances.
Speaking at the press conference, Ho said, “This pageant offers a platform for women to strengthen their voices, boost self-confidence and share their extraordinary stories with the world. The pageant goes beyond physical beauty, as it showcases inner strength and character.”
She continued, “We at Mrs Malaysia Globe believe in embracing diversity and highlighting the accomplishments of each remarkable individual, each of whom embodies the diverse facets of femininity. It is a testament to the power of dreams and the indomitable spirit that resides within every woman, propelling her towards greatness.”
MMG organiser Glam Heim Gilbert Teo, MMG 2023 legal advisor Dato’ David Gurupatham, Mrs Malaysia Globe 2022 Nina Goh and, Mrs Malaysia Globe 2017 Sharon Sia, as well as sponsors and partners were also present at the event.
Ho said this year they would provide support to dyslexic children and celebrate women who have overcome dyslexia to become successful career professionals, extending the ongoing initiative of Mrs Globe, which is to advocate for domestic violence.
“This initiative aims to bring to light the struggles children face at home when learning is a hindrance. Many of us are unaware of the uphill battle of a dyslexic child, just because they are unable to read, write and spell well.
“This in turn can lead to some form of domestic violence because parents become frustrated with their child’s inability to master the English language as quickly as their siblings or classmates,” she said.
“Therefore, we at Mrs Malaysia Globe believe that it is extremely crucial that we began a discussion surrounding the topic of dyslexia to provide resources and opportunities for dyslexic children, empowering them to reach their full potential,” she added.
The contest for married women is divided into two categories – Mrs Malaysia Globe for contestants between the ages of 25 and 44, while those taking part in Mrs Malaysia Classique Globe must be aged 45 and above.
First audition for Mrs Malaysia Globe was successfully held at NetVerk on May 7, and a second national audition will be held at the same venue on June 24.
The finalists selected will undergo pageant week from November 1-5, where there will be a series of programmes to polish their skills and prepare them for the grand finale on November 5. There will be some activities for the contestants in each of the month commencing July.
