Just ahead of Ramadan, Tropicana Corp Bhd hosted 600 underprivileged children from 23 charity homes and orphanages throughout Klang Valley at Tropicana Gardens Mall in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya from March 14-16, 2023.
Via its charity arm, Tropicana Foundation, the Group invited the children to meet their heroes at “The World of DC Exhibition”, featuring iconic characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the Flash.
The children also attended the ceramic coaster painting workshops by Good Times and were treated to hearty meals by The Chicken Rice Shop and DubuYo.
Participating homes included long-term Tropicana Foundation partners such as Rumah Kasih Harmoni, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, Lighthouse Children’s Welfare Home, Rumah Ozanam Klang, Rumah Ozanam PJ and Yayasan Chow Kit.
Tropicana Foundation also reached out to new partners like Rumah Perlindungan Safiyyah, the First Light Girls Home and Pure Life Society.
“As Malaysia enters the fasting month, we wanted to give back to the community and bring smiles to the face of children in need. We did this by joining hands with our retail arm, Tropicana Gardens Mall, as well as working with tenants and partners such as The Chicken Rice Shop, DubuYo and WOW Event Asia.
This festive initiative is in line with Tropicana’s core focus on redefining the art of caring,” said Tropicana Group managing director Dion Tan.
The visits started with a walkabout of “The World of DC Exhibition” at the convention centre on level 3A of the mall. The exhibition brought smiles to the children’s faces with life-size exhibits, costumes and interactive showcases of iconic super heroes and super-villains.
After the tour, the children were treated to a hearty meal at the food court and followed by an educational ceramic coaster painting workshop.
On top of these, the children and caretakers also received bread, fruit and bottled water to keep their energy up throughout the day.
The charitable initiative underscored Tropicana’s commitment to engaging with and uplifting underprivileged segments of society, as part of its sustainable approach to environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) principles. In 2022, Tropicana Foundation channelled RM3 million to charitable causes across Malaysia.
