The Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) bagged the ‘Leading Government Tourism Board of the Year” award at the inaugural Asian Tourism and Hospitality (ATH) Awards 2022-23 held at Le Méridien Kuala Lumpur on March 17, 2023.
Lada deputy chief executive office Wan Kamarul Faisal Wan Kamardin said the organization was recognized for its efforts in promoting Langkawi as a renowned world-class tourism destination.
“We are extremely pleased to have been granted this prestigious award. To be acknowledged in front of our peers and fellow industry players will serve as a great motivation for us to keep pushing on in order to elevate Langkawi to greater heights.
‘We believe we are on the right track in our goal of ensuring Langkawi is established as a top tourist destination in the world,” he said.
He added, “As a team fully focused on our goals, we are more motivated than ever to capitalise on the limitless opportunities which are aimed at accelerating the growth of tourism in Langkawi.”
The event also saw the attendance of various tourism and hospitality agencies from all around Asia.
Wan Kamarul Faisal said Lada will be looking forward to the future on numerous inbound opportunities for business and tourism development.
“The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2023) is set to be held here from May 23-27. The prospects do not end there as Lada will also be hosting the next edition of Routes Asia 2024 in February next year.
“Both these events will serve to facilitate conversations between industry players for business development and act as a catalyst for economic recovery on the island,” he added.
Organized by TIN Media, in partnership with Asia Hospitality Human Resource Association, the first edition of the ATH Awards opened to a resounding success, celebrating the spirit of resilience and excellence; acknowledging business innovation and exceptional contributors of the industry across Asia.
