McDonald’s Malaysia will be sharing the festive joy with senior citizens at several old folks’ homes nationwide in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year 2023 celebration.
From Jan 15 to Feb 15, 2023, the quick-service restaurant will be visiting more than 120 old folks homes nationwide to ring in McDonald’s ‘True Meaning of Prosperity’ and spread joy and cheer to the senior citizens.
McDonald’s kicked off the festivities by hosting some 50 old folks from Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged, as well as some members of the police, Bomba and Rukun Tetangga for a ‘Makan Besar’ feast at McDonald’s Birch House in Georgetoen, Penang on Jan 16.
The Makan Besar feast included festive activities such as lion dance, yee sang prosperity toss and the highlight – a karaoke and dancing session with McDonald’s crew.
“McDonald’s has always championed familial bond through communities. As we enter the new year, we will continue to support and care for the communities, especially the old folks.
“This Chinese New Year outreach programme is to invoke McDonald’s ‘True Meaning of Prosperity’ and share precious memories with loved ones.
“More importantly, it is also to show that communities, similar to a family, require nurturing and care to flourish,” said McDonald’s Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Dato’ Azmir Jaafar.
He said the company will be continuing its 7-year-old community initiative of giving back to the communities it serves during the festive season.
“This is the seventh consecutive year that McDonald’s has been organising visitations to bring cheer to old folks and every year, and we are fortunate to be able to visit more than 120 old folks’ homes and spending quality time with them during this festive occasion.
“At the heart of McDonald’s, we will always put our communities first and give back in any way we can. We want to spread joy and happiness as these moments are truly priceless to us and the communities at large.”
