Coca-Cola Bottlers Malaysia has allocated contributions valued over RM240,000 in its flood relief efforts for flood-affected victims across three states, namely Kelantan, Pahang, and Terengganu.
The food assistant programme “Sincere Kitchen” aims to support more than 9,000 families in areas that are expected to be affected by flood during the north-east monsoon season.
Besides providing food aid, those in need will also receive relief packs which contain hygiene kits, medicine and other necessities.
In addition, Coca-Cola Bottlers Malaysia, in collaboration with Yayasan Ikhlas, Social Welfare Department Malaysia (JKM) and the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), also worked together to distribute Dasani drinking water as part of the contribution.
The contribution in the form of cash and drinking water was handed over to Ir. Hj. Kamaruddin Kassim who represented Yayasan Ikhas.
“Coca-Cola Malaysia does not only focus on sustainability activities, but also towards our corporate social responsibility programmes ‘Acts of Kindness’, which we have been consistently organizing in line with our corporate value of sharing with and giving back to the communities in need,” said Khairul Anwar Ab Gahani, public affairs, communications and sustainability director Coca-Cola Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei.
He said this marks the first collaboration between Coca-Cola Bottlers Malaysia and Yayasan Ikhlas and set the paths for future joint assistance programmes.
Yayasan Ikhlas is an NGO, established in 2009 with the aim to assist the underprivileged communities, including orphans, the poor, the disabled, and those affected by disasters.
