Nestle Malaysia has contributed a donation of RM200,000 to the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) to support families that might be affected by the upcoming monsoon season.
Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad chief executive officer Juan Aranols said the contribution was to support MRCS in their preparation efforts ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
“We are always thankful for the love and support of Malaysians for our brands and we feel very obliged to give back some of that love by being actively involved in relief efforts to help families in need.
“Indeed, we know that the monsoon season, and the associated risk of floods is often a challenging period for many families living in flood-exposed areas.
“We are inspired by the work of MRCS to protect and serve the needs of these vulnerable communities. Ours is a small contribution to these efforts, and we would like to invite other organisations and Malaysians to contribute to strengthen this solidarity network,” he said.
The contribution to MRCS includes RM100,000 cash to purchase family hygiene kits and another RM100,000 worth of Nestle food products to be allocated by MRCS to vulnerable communities.
Each hygiene kit will consist of a one-month supply of toothbrushes, toothpaste, detergent, towels, disposable shavers, sanitary pads, toilet rolls, soap, as well as a water bucket and a water scoop.
“We are pleased to receive this generous donation from Nestle and we are grateful that they are taking this meaningful step as a responsible business to support Malaysians.
“Indeed, providing care and relief assistance to at risk and vulnerable communities requires collective effort, and Nestle’s contribution will certainly help us achieve this goal,” said MRCS national chairperson Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.
