MR. DIY distributes necessities to communities in need in Kota Marudu and Baling

MR. DIY, through its corporate social responsibility team MR. DIY Cares has reached out to communities in need with food and essentials in Kota Maruda, Sabah and Baling, Kedah.

The MR. DIY Cares team has partnered with non-government organization Soroptimist International Club of Damansara to travel to Sabah by air and then a further 2.5 hours by road to Kampung Gana in Kota Marudu, Sabah, to distribute everyday essentials to 40 families in the village, such as washing powder, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bodyink soap and sanitary pads.

The home improvement retailer also contributed gardening tools such as pail, gardening hose, shovel and garden gloves for the village organic farming project, which helps the community generate a sustainable income.

MR. DIY Cares team packed food items to be delivered to 109 families affected by the flood in Baling, Kedah.

In a separate programme, MR.DIY Cares volunteers reached out to flood victims in Baling, Kedah, who were recently hit by some of the worst floods in the history of southeast Kedah.

To help ease their burden, the retailer teamed up with Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia to distribute dry food and ready-to-cook canned food to support 109 families who were displaced by the floods.

MR D.I.Y. Group chairman Dato’ Azlam Shah Alias said the group is committed to helping communities in need in all corners of the country.

“Collaborations such as these two with Soroptimist International Damansara and Yayasan Food Bank allow us to get everyday essentials to more people more effectively, and we thank them for working with us.

“In the case of Kampung Gana, the contribution also helps ensure their income-generating activities can continue, thereby ensuring their continued sustainability.

“In these challenging times, we believe it is even more important for companies and organizations to work together to help the rakyat, and we look forward to more partnerships like this in the future,” he said.
