18 contestants for the Miss Malaysia Tourism Pageant 2023 were unveiled to the public during a press conference on Oct 6, 2023 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The young beauties from the various states in the country will compete for three Miss Malaysia Tourism titles at the grand final on Oct 13, 2023 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, being the venue sponsor.
Organised by D’Touch International Sdn Bhd in collaboration with MyShoppo Sdn Bhd, the Miss Malaysia Tourism Pageant 2023 features the crowning of three Miss Malaysia queens in one night, namely Miss Malaysia Tourism 2023, Miss Malaysia Tourism Queen of the Year 2023 and Miss Malaysia Tourism Metropolitan 2023.
The three Miss Malaysia winners will then represent the country in their respective world finals to be held later this year, where they will act as the country’s tourism ambassadresses and assist in the promotion of tourism to the delegates.
Miss Malaysia Tourism 2023 will represent the country at the Miss Tourism International 2023 World Final on Nov 25, 2023 at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Organiser D’Touch International president Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi stated during the unveiling event: “The pageant celebrates not only the beauty and grace of its participants, but also has a broader mission to promote tourism, culture and friendship among the participating states.
Ooi added: “By fostering cultural exchange and building friendships among the contestants, the pageant plays a crucial role in promoting unity and understanding among Malaysia’s diverse communities.”
Ooi said the pageant serves as a vital link to the global stage, with the intention to promote Malaysia to the international community.
“By participating in the world final at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the delegates will have the opportunity to showcase the rich heritage and hospitality of Malaysia to an international audience,” he added.
The pageant’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement includes visits to two charitable homes, namely the Selangor King George V Silver Jubilee Fund and Ti-Ratana, under the “Miss Malaysia Tourism …Because We Care” campaign, to demonstrate a genuine commitment to nurturing compassion and empathy among the finalists.
